Strength

Most often when we hear the word strength, we usually refer to how much someone can squat or bench press. In most cases this is true, but it also has an alternate meaning. The 400 meter dash is one of the most difficult races in track. It’s not long distance or short distance, it’s one hard lap of pure sprinting. I had the experience of running this race in my high school years. This race takes not only physical strength, but also mental strength. Yes, it’s nice to be fit and have physical strength, but mental strength is what finishes the race for you. Just when your about to gut it out to the finish line and you think you can’t go anymore, that’s when the mental strength comes in. If you don’t prepare yourself for the finish and don’t have any faith In yourself, it’s hard to finish anything. When doing anything, mainly sports in my case, it’s important to have physical strength, but also mental strength when the tough times arise.
